Kodak Medalist I Black Focus Tube + Viewing Back & Factory Repair Manual 1945
Made In the USA. Body serial number 22237. Lens serial number ER3031. The camera has 1 tripod socket and the focus tube is black so this was really a camera made during WWII. The lens dates from 1945 and the glass is coated. The cameras rangefinder and diaphragm are working, but the shutter needs a repair. It is stuck fully open and the advance lever does not work that would usually cock the shutter. This has been sitting a very long time and has never been serviced as far as I know. The cosmetic condition is very nice. No missing leather and no dents. The top plate metal as very slight pitting in a few areas. You also get an accessory back with the ground glass, focusing hood and magnifier. The ground glass is intact and the hood is in excellent condition. The hoods hinge will need some minor adjustment for the swing out pin to align correctly. You also get a very nice original field case and “2” rolls of boxed Kodak TX620 film dated Aug. (The image shows 3 rolls, but only 2 are included). The lens is a Kodak Ektar 100mm f/3.5, in a Kodak Supermatic No. The glass looks good. No haze, fungus or scratches. There is minor dust that affects nothing. The original lens cap is included. This is in the original 3 ring binder. The Medalist I and II were much the same camera. The pages are all a thick cardboard and there are 26 pages of instructions. The book dates from March 1947. The last pages shows the tools required and also how to service the Accessory back. The original code for the book was S. 1-2370 for the camera and S. 1-2370-1 for the accessory back. There are 5 chapters. Disassembly, Cycle of Operation, Repair and Adjustment, Reassembly and Corrective Maintenance.
