Leitz Leica M SLOOZ 28mm Finder – WETZLAR WIDE ANGLE – BLACK ANODIZED CASING. You are perusing a vintage used Leitz Leica SLOOZ/12007 28mm Viewfinder for Leica M Rangefinder cameras. Appearing in 1960, the SLOOZs body is made of aluminum with a black anodized finish. Cosmetically the edges of the viewfinder have worn through the black anodizing in various areas leaving the bright metal to show through. Optically the glass is clean and clear. At the 10 oclock position on the eye-piece, a small flake of glass has broken off inside the viewfinder (see photos). The fracture is internal and the dislodged flake is inside the viewfinder but not visible when in use. Structurally the piece is in solid condition and fits firmly into the shoe of the camera. Viewfinders are very useful, especially when doing a run and gun type of photography. With only one line in the view the photographer cannot mistake what will be in the image. The SLOOZ ships in its original brown leather case. From Leica Collectors Guide – Viewfinders. Introduced in 1951, these viewfinders exhibit a rich variety in type of engraving, placing of engraving, type of foot, chromium finish, and the presence of otherwise of incised finger grips on the sides.
