Vintage and very rare Wartime Leica III Series leather system CASE. Produced between 1941 and 1946 with the E. Leitz New York stamp. Will fit all of the early III series cameras through IIIc, and should happily take a IIIf as well. Fitted space for the camera body with lens mounted. Space for a wide angle lens, and dedicated space for auxiliary viewfinder. Blocks to hold a long telephoto lens with 3 hold down straps, can also be used for 2 lenses. Compartments for film, lens tissue, etc. Stitched leather over wood. Lined completely in Leica purple velveteen. Very light wear inside. Leather is supple and clean. Complete with original (attached) wrist length strap. 10 1/2″ long x 9″ wide x 3 1/2 tall. Top quality, as you would expect. The quality of the wartime cases produced in the US and Canada is right up with Wetzlar stamped product. Very nice to excellent vintage condition. Little wear to outside, just minor edge and corner wear and some scuffs from storage. Straps show moderate wear but are supple and ready to go. Leather “hinge” for the lid is fine, with no tears or real wear. Inside wear is very light, with all partitions still solidly in place.
